The Microbiology Laboratory at the "St. George" Diagnostic and Consultation Center in Haskovo, headed by Dr. Guzgunova, performs microbiological tests on samples from all organs and systems in the body:
Throat swabs, nasal swabs, sputum, ear secretions, eye secretions, wound secretions, vaginal and cervical secretions, urine cultures, surgical specimens, stool, semen, urethral secretions, aspirates, etc.
Cultural or rapid testing methods are used, including for microorganisms that are difficult to culture, such as:
Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, Helicobacter pylori, Campylobacter, Clostridium difficile Toxin A/B, and others.
The antibiotic or antifungal susceptibility of pathogenic bacteria or fungi is determined, and antibiotic susceptibility profiles (antibiograms) and antifungal susceptibility profiles (antimycograms) are prepared, respectively.
Specimens are accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The laboratory provides the necessary supplies as well as instructions for proper sample collection, which is essential for the quality of the testing.
Sample acceptance and microbiological testing are performed on-site within 3 business days.
